Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Into the Land of Giants

Your six-day adventure begins in Arusha with a morning departure towards Tarangire National Park.

As you travel through the countryside, the landscape gradually transforms into the dry woodland and open plains characteristic of the Tarangire ecosystem. After entering the park, your first game drive begins.

Tarangire is famous for its remarkable elephant population and dramatic baobab trees. During your exploration, you may encounter elephants moving between the trees, giraffes feeding on acacia, zebras and wildebeest crossing the plains, and buffalo and antelopes gathering around areas of water.

The Tarangire River is particularly important to wildlife, especially during the dry season, when animals from surrounding areas are attracted to its water.

Continue your game drive through the afternoon before leaving the park and travelling to your accommodation.

After breakfast, depart Tarangire and begin your journey towards Serengeti National Park.

As you travel towards the Serengeti, you will experience a dramatic transformation in scenery, eventually reaching the vast plains that have made this region one of the world's most famous wildlife destinations.

After entering Serengeti, begin your game drive while making your way towards your accommodation.

The Serengeti supports huge populations of herbivores, including wildebeest, zebras and gazelles. Their presence attracts an extraordinary collection of predators. Keep watch for lions resting in the grass, cheetahs scanning the open plains and hyenas moving through the ecosystem.

With patience and good fortune, your guide may also locate a leopard resting in a tree or hidden among vegetation.

Continue your exploration before settling into your accommodation for the evening.

Your guide will follow wildlife activity and choose areas to explore based on seasonal conditions and recent sightings.
The Serengeti's enormous ecosystem supports an incredible diversity of animals. Search for prides of lions, solitary cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, gazelles and hyenas.
The park is also one of the principal stages of the Great Migration, when millions of wildebeest and large numbers of zebras and gazelles move through the wider Serengeti ecosystem in search of water and fresh grazing. The location of the herds varies throughout the year, so your experience will depend on your travel dates.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wilderness before continuing your game drive through the afternoon.
Return to your accommodation in the evening for dinner and overnight.

After exploring the crater floor, ascend the crater walls and continue towards Lake Manyara National Park.

Upon arrival, enjoy an afternoon game drive if time and park conditions permit. Lake Manyara is famous for its diverse habitats, including groundwater forests and seasonal wetlands.

Look for elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, baboons and a wide variety of birds. The park is also associated with its unusual tree-climbing lions, although seeing them requires patience and luck.

The lake itself attracts a wide range of water-associated birds, while the surrounding habitats support both resident and migratory species.

After the game drive, leave the park and begin your journey back to Arusha.

Enjoy lunch along the way before arriving in Arusha, marking the end of your six-day Tanzania safari.
