After breakfast, you leave the rainforest behind and continue toward the higher slopes of Kilimanjaro.

The trail becomes steeper as the vegetation changes from dense forest to open moorland. The landscape begins to reveal impressive views of the mountain and surrounding areas.

You will continue toward the Shira Plateau, one of the most scenic sections of the Machame Route.

As you approach Shira Camp, the landscape becomes wider and more dramatic, with volcanic formations and views toward Kibo Peak.

Day 03 :

Shira Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp

Elevation: 3,845m – 4,630m – 3,960m

Today is an important acclimatization day as you climb to a higher elevation before descending to sleep at Barranco Camp.

After breakfast, you begin trekking across the Shira Plateau toward Lava Tower, a prominent volcanic formation located at approximately 4,630 meters.

The landscape becomes increasingly rugged and dry as you enter the alpine desert zone.

After reaching Lava Tower, you descend toward Barranco Valley, allowing your body to experience a higher elevation before sleeping at a lower altitude.

The dramatic Barranco Wall comes into view as you approach camp, creating one of the most memorable scenes of the trek.

Day 04 :

Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp

Elevation: 3,960m – 4,035m

After breakfast, you begin the day with the famous Barranco Wall.

With guidance from your experienced mountain crew, you carefully ascend the wall using the natural trail through the rock formations. The section is adventurous and challenging but does not normally require technical climbing equipment.

After reaching the top, you continue across the Southern Circuit toward Karanga Valley.

The trail rises and falls through the high-altitude landscape before reaching Karanga Camp.

Because this is a relatively shorter trekking day, you will have time to rest, enjoy the surroundings, and prepare for the higher elevations ahead.

Day 05 :

Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp

Elevation: 4,035m – 4,640m
Distance: Approximately 4 km

After breakfast, you leave Karanga Camp and continue toward Barafu Camp, the final camp before your summit attempt.

The trail climbs through increasingly barren alpine terrain. As the altitude increases, the air becomes thinner, so you will maintain a slow and steady pace.

Upon reaching Barafu Camp, your mountain crew will prepare the campsite and you will have time to rest.

Your guide will provide a summit briefing, explain the following day's schedule, and help you prepare your personal equipment.

An early dinner and rest are recommended because the summit attempt begins during the night.

Day 06 :

Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp

Elevation: 4,640m – 5,895m – 3,080m
Distance: Approximately 14–17 km
Trekking Time: 12–15 hours
Habitat: Arctic / Alpine Desert / Moorland
Accommodation: Mweka Camp
Today is the summit day, the most challenging and rewarding part of your Kilimanjaro adventure.
You will begin the ascent during the early hours of the morning, trekking slowly through the high-altitude terrain toward the crater rim.
The route continues toward Stella Point, located on the crater rim at approximately 5,739 meters.
From Stella Point, you continue along the crater rim toward Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the highest point in Africa.
At 5,895 meters, you will have time to celebrate your achievement, take photographs, and appreciate the incredible summit environment.
After reaching the summit, you begin the descent toward Barafu before continuing down the southern slopes to Mweka Camp.
After this long and demanding day, you will enjoy dinner and rest overnight at camp.

Day 07 :

Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Moshi

Elevation: 3,080m – 1,630m
Distance: Approximately 10 km
Trekking Time: 3–4 hours
Habitat: Rainforest

After breakfast, you begin the final descent through the beautiful Kilimanjaro rainforest.

As you lose altitude, the vegetation becomes greener and the air becomes warmer.

After several hours of trekking, you will arrive at Mweka Gate, where you will complete the final park procedures and say goodbye to your mountain crew.

Your vehicle will then transfer you back to Moshi.

After completing the 7-Day Machame Route Kilimanjaro Trek, you can relax and celebrate your achievement.

Your Kilimanjaro adventure officially comes to an end.
